Using topic modeling to analyze freedom of information law requests
Using topic modeling to research freedom of information law requests. I developed this Jupyter Notebook to analyze journalists’ requests via the Brazilian Freedom of Information Act (LAI) in the area of education from 2019 to 2020. In this notebook, the total amount of requests submitted by journalists in this period is analyzed, regardless of the government’s response.
The data generated by this model is part of the research on Media and Politics:
Weiss, C. E. (2024). What Journalists Ask When Channels Are Blocked: A Topic Modeling of Requests on Education via Brazil’s Freedom of Information Act Under Bolsonaro’s Administration. The Asian Conference on Media, Communication & Film 2024: Official Conference Proceedings, 15. https://papers.iafor.org/submission83872/
